2009 Solvang Julefest Events Schedule

For its annual Julefest Celebration, the “Danish Capital of America” has transformed into a Northern European-style Christmas village now through January 8, 2010. This year’s theme is “Village of Music” featuring free concerts, holiday musicals and caroling, complemented by many open houses at local businesses and special events taking place throughout the season. The major sponsor of the 2009 Julefest is Solvang’s Wine Valley Inn with support from the City of Solvang and area businesses.

HOLIDAY GINGERBREAD HOUSE AT OLSEN’S DANISH VILLAGE BAKERY– 1529 Mission Drive. Fourth generation-Danish baker Bent Olsen created this impressive 10-foot tall gingerbread house using an estimated 250 lbs. of gingerbread dough, 150 lbs. of powdered sugar and 3 gallons of egg whites. SOLVANG ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE BURN 6 PM, fields of Old Mission Santa Ines, 1760 Mission Drive
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department will supervise the burn at one of the largest fire safety demonstrations and community gatherings on the Central Coast. All area residents are invited to bring their tree (stands & ornaments must be removed) to the burn pile between January 1-7, 2010. Fire Department info: 805-686-8184
