Solvang, CA - Thousands of Central Coast residents and visitors enjoyed an old-fashioned 4th of July celebration in Solvang, California, which included the traditional parade down Mission Drive. This was followed by a BBQ in Solvang Park, a concert by the Valley Wind Ensemble in the Park, a free concert at the Solvang Veterans Hall by the Santa Ynez Valley Master Chorale, and a Family Festival at the Old Mission Santa Ines.

To top everything off: at 9pm, fireworks at the footsteps of the Old Mission Santa Ines, established 28 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

These pictures, taken by Laura Kath, depict the annual spirit of this small town which celebrates our Declaration of Independence and our commitment to freedom.

	Anticipation: Community gathered in front of Paula's Pancake House (Mission Drive, or Highway 246) awaiting the beginning of the parade.
	Kicking off the parade: These aren't Clydesdales and this isn't Vienna, but this is a relaxing ride on any weekend in Solvang.
	Every kid's dream: on the rescue mission, completely in control, or just driving a big red truck. Once a year this happens. Then they become teenagers.
	The Santa Ynez Valley Master Chorale performs in the Veterans Hall.
	Here, the Old Mission Santa Ines prepares to host (among other things annual) the 4th of July Family Festival. Wunderbar for kids of all ages! Stick around, and loud noises and flashes of light appear in the sky after 9pm!
