Solvang, CA - Since 1993, Taste of Solvang has featured cuisine, locally grown foods, wines and live entertainment to celebrate the rich cultural and culinary heritage of the area. A Weekend Passport including logo tote bag & souvenir wine glass is $70 per person. Individual event tickets (ala carte) may be purchased as well: Dessert Reception $25; Walking Smorgaasbord $30; Wine Walk $35; from the Solvang Visitors Bureau, 1511-A Mission Drive, Solvang, or by calling 1-800-468-6765 or 805-688-6144. Regular Visitors Bureau hours are 10am-4pm daily--expanded hours will be from 9am-6pm on Friday, March 14 & Saturday, March 15, 2008 for ticket sales and Passport pick-up.
The Taste of Solvang begins this year with a delicious new culinary experience. For the first time, eight Solvang restaurants are offering special 3-course tasting menus for the price of $20.08 (excluding tax, tip, beverages) between Sunday, March 9 and Thursday, March 13, 2008. Reservations are highly recommended; contact restaurants for specific dining hours.

The weekend portion of the festival kicks off on Friday, March 14, 2008 from 7:00-9:00pm with a scrumptious Dessert Reception & live music by the Solvang Jazz Quartet (Alan Satchwell, vocals and trumpet; Woody DeMarco, piano; Tompeet Frederickson, drums; Chris Hansen, bass) at the Royal Scandinavian Inn, 400 Alisal Road, featuring delicious delicacies paired with wines from: Café Angelica, Ingeborg’s Danish Chocolates, Olsen’s Danish Village Bakery, Presidio Vineyard and Winery, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Royal Scandinavian Inn, Solvang Bakery, Solvang Lutheran Home, Stolpman Vineyards, and Wandering Dog Wine Bar.
On Saturday, March 15, 2008, from 11:00 am-4:00pm, the Walking Smorgaasbord features 40 taste stops around the village. In between taste stops, enjoy live entertainment all about town, take free tours of Old Mission Santa Ines & the Elverhoj Museum of History & Art. Maps will be provided with ticket purchase.
On Saturday, March 15, 2008 from 6:00-9:00pm, savor the Wine Tasting Room Walk with these vintners pouring their vintages into the prized souvenir Taste of Solvang etched glass: Bellisima Wine Bar, House of Honeywood/Old Mission Wine Company, Lions Peak Vineyard & Winery, Lucas & Lewellen, Mandolina, Olive House, Presidio Vineyard & Winery, TRIO, Uncorked, Vinhus, Vigna Ladonna, and Wandering Dog Wine Bar.
