Solvang, CA - The Santa Ynez Valley Tech Club is hosting a FREE mixer at Meadows Restaurant (at the Solvang Royal Scandinavian Inn) on Tuesday, May 15 at 6:30. The Tech Club is a local organization that discusses new emerging technologies and is a networking opportunity for many (students, tech workforce, seniors) who are interested in watching for the "next big thing" in technology.
Tuesday's speaker is Dr. David Retz, who runs syv-online.com, and will talk about the next generation in Internet technology: wireless sensor networks. These networks provide the ability to monitor a wide variety of things through the infrastructure of the Internet. There's a wide variety of applications, which include: temperature monitoring in refrigeration systems, patient monitoring, security systems, agricultural and viticulture monitoring, and others.
Other presenters to the club have included Kevin Mills, CEO of Carpinteria-based network security firm Demarc, and Paul Valenzuela, an instructor and network manager at UCSB.
