Santa Ynez Valley, CA - Clairmont Farms at 2480 Roblar Avenue in Los Olivos is pleased to host the Santa Ynez Valley Visitors Association (SYVVA) Spring Mixer on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, from 5:00-7:00pm. Admission is free and open to the public. [Shown at right: guests at the last 2006 mixer.]
SYVVA members as well as the public and visitors are invited to tour this family-owned and operated lavender farm, stroll the grounds; network and enjoy wine tasting compliments of Casa Cassara and other Valley wineries; sample refreshments from area restaurants; and participate in a silent auction serving as a fundraiser for SYVVA--items range from wines to luxury lodging certificates to gift baskets and more (just in time for Mother’s Day).
Used for centuries, lavender is an herb best known for its medicinal and healing properties. Clairmont Farms features five acres of organic lavender plants. The cut lavender is sun dried, thrashed, sifted and steam distilled in copper on-premises. Mixer guests can see the ‘distillery,’ stroll around the grounds, savor the views of the Santa Ynez Mountains, and 350-year-old oak trees that dot the property. The Farms' entrance on Roblar Avenue is lined with 175-year-old olive trees planted by 19th century missionaries and part of the original grove that gave the town its name of “Los Olivos.”
Clairmont Farms offers essential lavender oil, a complete line of lavender-based personal care products including shampoo, conditioner, lotions, misters, homemade soaps, sachets and even culinary lavender as well as dog care products.
