Santa Ynez, CA - We've added a new value to the Weather Display - the so-called "Heat Index". It's a calculation of how comfortable (or uncomfortable) the weather is - based on human interaction with the warm air around you - which has lots of evaporated water mixed in - called humidity.
We're now on day 12 (and counting) of a heat wave - with high temperatures each day above 95°. This is a bit unusual for Santa Ynez Valley residents, who are used to a few days of this, but then get the 80° reprieve. Wouldn't it be interesting to see how our average temperatures compare against the last 10 years? Is the Valley feeling the effects of global warming?
