Solvang, CA - "To everything there is a season ...". The season of Film Photography, Dial-up Internet Service, and other technologies is a wave to ride, and at some point, a time to wave goodbye.

Photo Heck will be closing for the last time this week "Photo Heck of It". Jim and Anne Heck came to the Valley 25 years ago on the wave of a new space technology, known as "The Space Shuttle", planned to launch from SLC-6 at Vandenberg AFB. Unfortunately, the Challenger disaster of 1986 completely changed the technology, putting the Shuttle program on hold for a period of time, and causing the complete cancellation of the West Coast's involvement in the Shuttle program. (Other businesses, such as the establishment of the Santa Barbara Marriott in Buellton, were founded on the hopes that the Shuttle would bring a significant amount of business to the Central Coast, and the Santa Ynez Valley in particular.

Photo Heck rode the wave of film photography, and has been a tremendous resource to the Valley in both film processing and photographic services. Friday, March 24, 2006, Photo Heck will be closing, and Jim and Anne Heck will be moving on to new challenges. For information on equipment that is still available for sale, visit www.photoheck.com

The Hecks are noted for their bold move to invest in solar energy - installing both solar panels and wind technology to allow their electric meter to run backwards. Perhaps this is a new direction for the eclectic couple?. We'll all miss Photo Heck as a local business, and hopefully they will still be running into us around town.
